From Vienna to Illinois, Virginia, Quebec, and now Manitoba – Christoph has international experience in architecture. In 2019 and 2020, Christoph deepened his expertise in academic design research through postgraduate courses. Christoph has experience in design research, prototype development, data collection, environmental simulations, and wood and metal working.

Christoph’s interest in design research stems from his time at Virginia Tech. He worked on prototypes for dynamic LED lighting, prefabricated modular housing concepts, and the construction of Future HAUS, which won first prize in the 2018 Solar Decathlon Middle East.

METRONOME MAN

While some might think that the sound of the drums is not particularly relaxing, Christoph begs to differ. He “loves playing the drums because few things are as relaxing and rewarding as playing a beat and getting it right.” It’s not surprising that Christoph decompresses by immersing himself in music.

LEAVING ON A SEAPLANE

Given all of Christoph’s fascinating experiences, we wanted to know if there was something else he’s always wanted to do or learn. His answer, driven by his love of remote places and operating unique machinery, was to fly a small airplane – preferably a sea plane.

A TRUE TREKKY

We can tell it was a tough decision when asked about his favourite movie, “If I can only name one… Star Trek: First Contact”. Rotten Tomatoes seems to agree with Christoph – Star Trek: First Contact has a 92% rating on their Tomatometer and 100% on Christoph’s Trekkymeter.
