Henry Tufts is an architect whose diverse experience spans post-secondary renovations, civic and institutional projects, and new construction. Whether working with public or private clients, he brings a thoughtful and disciplined approach to every stage of the process—from early concept design through to construction documentation. A recipient of multiple awards for architectural achievement, Henry contributes a strong foundation in planning, design, and project coordination to the Republic team.

With a Master of Architecture from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Technology (with distinction) from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Henry’s work reflects both creativity and technical expertise. His portfolio includes libraries, universities, healthcare facilities, and community centres—each shaped by his dedication to creating meaningful, enduring spaces. Known for his collaborative nature and attention to detail, Henry values the relationships built through his work and the lasting impact thoughtful design can have on the people who use it.

Wright from the Start

Henry’s earliest design inspiration came from his mom, who kept a well-worn copy of The Natural House by Frank Lloyd Wright on the shelf. He read it constantly as a kid—possibly setting the foundation (pun intended) for his path into architecture.

When in Doubt, Look It Up

A lifelong learner, Henry’s go-to advice is simple: look it up. It’s no surprise, then, that his three must-have apps are Audible, Reddit, and YouTube—his favorite trio for feeding curiosity and finding answers to, well, just about anything.

Postmodern and Proud

Drawn to the storytelling and symbolism of Postmodern design, Henry loves architecture that’s both thoughtful and playful. He’s also passionate about mass timber construction—and if he weren’t an architect, you’d probably find him happily working the aisles at Home Depot, putting his hands-on skills to good use.
