If Year Twelve gave us signs of hope, Year Thirteen reminded us that sometimes luck really is on your side. The milestones kept rolling in as we celebrated—and then quickly surpassed—Project #700.

Recognition was another theme this year. Our work at the Manitoba Legislative Building Rotunda (Project #442) earned not one but two honours: A 2022 Heritage Winnipeg Preservation Institutional Conservation Award and recognition as a 2022 Project Management Institute Manitoba Project of the Year Finalist. These accolades underscored our dedication to conserving architectural heritage and the legacy of our built environment. That same commitment was also showcased by Evan Hunter, who presented on making heritage buildings accessible for all at the National Trust Conference in Toronto where he also made new friends with our snazzy Republic tote bags.

And, if you hadn’t guessed already—the long-awaited moment arrived: pandemic restrictions were lifted. The #PeopleOfRepublic wasted no time jumping back into shared experiences. Our Interior Design team retreated to Toronto where they were welcomed by our vendors and suppliers, team members came together to compete in the Cool Digs competition, and we proved our versatility extends well beyond design with a spirited Team Day at Thunder Rapids, where mini golf swings, go-kart races, and bumper-boat splashes made memories as strong as any project milestone.

In Year Thirteen, we hosted “The Repubbies”. This in-house awards event celebrated the individual talents and contributions that make our team shine—proof that recognition doesn’t just come from outside the studio, but from within as well.

Speaking of the team, Year Thirteen brought even more new faces and strengths. Stas Klaz joined our architectural team, Jose Guillermo Geronimo added his expertise to the mechanical team, Chelsey Rutledge boosted our already pretty great team of technologists, and Charlene Kroll, known for always going the extra mile (#GTEM), became a valuable addition to our BCA group.

By the close of Year Thirteen, our portfolio stood at 721 projects—and more importantly, we stood stronger, more connected, and more energized than ever for the opportunities ahead.

Lucky Number Thirteen, indeed.
