Fifteen years. A milestone that sparkles—literally. From the spark of an idea to our crystal anniversary, Year Fifteen was one for the books: jam-packed with milestones, new faces, and enough laughs to fill another decade’s worth of memories.
This year saw Republic continuing to adapt and evolve—pivoting on project pursuits and strategies to reflect the changing tides of the AEC industry as new governments and federal elections reshaped priorities both at home and abroad. Amid the change, our drive remained steady and our reach expanded further than ever before. We landed our first project in Prince Edward Island, officially completing the map with Republic projects in every province and territory across Canada. A true coast-to-coast-to-coast achievement fifteen years in the making.
Of course, all work and no play has never been our style. The #PeopleOfRepublic found endless ways to connect, compete, and celebrate this year. We kicked things off with Back-to-School Team Trivia (B2STT), where we guessed each other’s answers to essential life questions like: What would be your Real Housewives tagline? What song would top the soundtrack to your life? and What event would you compete in at the Olympics—if skill wasn’t required? The results? Equal parts hilarious and revealing.
Next up was a returning fan favourite: Family Day at A-Maze in Corn. With perfect weather, plenty of laughs, and a few new faces, the day felt like a backyard BBQ that perfectly blended team bonding with family fun.
We even found a way to make site visits a little more playful this year with Site Visit Bingo—challenging team members to snap photos of items like PPE, “Republic in the wild,” high-fives, and, of course, FOOD!
As 2024 came to a close, we gathered around the table (and filled it several times over) for a potluck-style holiday brunch. It was a feast of flavours, cultures, and family recipes that left us full—in both heart and stomach—as we headed into our winter hibernation. Well, a Republic version of hibernation where we came out of hiding to meet up for cross-country skiing!
But the celebrations didn’t stop there. Project #800, a master planning assignment, rolled into the books, and RAINO was buzzing with creativity. We hosted an industry tufting night with Interface Prairies, welcomed students from the University of Manitoba and RRC Polytech, and even let our competitive spirit soar in the 2025 Teknion Birdhouse Challenge with our entry, banditRĒ.
In April, we spent 14 hours on site with Stationpoint Photographic capturing the Manitoba Hydro Riel Construction Office project. The day was long, the belly laughs were longer, and when we finally saw the final shots—it was all worth it.
One thing remained consistent in Year Fifteen, as in every year before: we welcomed new faces to the #PeopleOfRepublic. Elena Kravchuk brought her background in modular construction and flair for fashion to the architectural technologist team. Rita Talwar joined our interiors team, bringing an established design career and a wealth of experience. The Project Management Team grew in force and personality with the additions of Candace Fempel, Krista Bobinski, Amrit Sidhu, Princess Okpara, and Candace Barton—that’s right, twice as many Candaces as we started the year with! A success story from our RRC Polytech night, Justine Espina added something truly spec-ial to our spec writing team, while Romilie Calotes brought her creativity and talent to the architectural team. A diverse, dynamic group whose energy reflected exactly where Republic was headed next.
Year Fifteen also brought a series of exciting firsts:
By year’s end, we had 815 projects in our portfolio and an unshakable sense of gratitude for how far we’ve come.
What started as an idea—a spark—has grown into something crystal clear: a team bound by shared purpose, creativity, and connection.
Thank you for joining us on this fifteen-year journey. To our clients, partners, sub-consultants, and team members—past and present—we couldn’t have made it here without you.
Here’s to the next fifteen years (and beyond) of curiosity, creativity, and connection.
From spark to crystal.
