Year Three

Northern Sparks & Deep Dish Dreams

With each new project rolling across our then-brand-new desking system (see: Year Two), our momentum—and our creativity—kept building. Looking back now, one project stands out: Project #043 – Building Condition Reports (BCRs) in Dawson City, Yukon.

By then, northern Canada had already carved out a special place in our hearts. But this project marked a turning point: a new client, a new direction, and the start of what would become a core service—Building Condition Assessments. Twelve-ish years later, we’re still proud to work with the City of Dawson, and we still feel that same spark whenever a new opportunity from the North lands on our desks.

While our hearts and minds were drawn northward, another Republic tradition was beginning to take shape—our love of food. By Year Three, our annual retreats had evolved beyond team building and architectural exploration. They were now just as much about uncovering the best local eats. That year, we headed south for our very first international retreat: Chicago. And yes, there was deep dish. (Of course there was deep dish.)

Project #043 may have rounded out our portfolio that year, but it felt like just the beginning. Year Three planted the seeds for growth—and we could feel big things on the horizon.
