Morris School LEED Educational Signage

Republic Architecture Inc. was engaged to design a 907 m2 vocational shop addition for Morris School to accommodate autobody and welding facilities and achieve LEED Silver Certification. Sustainable strategies included maximizing natural daylighting, incorporating a solar wall and heat recovery ventilator (HRV), specifying locally available materials, installing low-flow plumbing fixtures, LED lighting, and in-floor heating, and providing irrigation for the landscape below through a rooftop drainage system.

A component of the project was to create signage that served as teaching and wayfinding tools. The infographic etched stainless-steel signage, which was developed in collaboration with State Industries, identifies and explains the sustainable elements of the facility and their contributions to improving energy efficiency.
