Melissa Sarrasin is an Architect at Republic Architecture Inc. She holds both a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Architecture. Melissa contributes to a variety of different types of projects, providing her skills with architectural design, design research, and sustainable design.

Melissa’s background includes work on such diverse examples as university and community centre facilities, laboratories and offices. Her work has been recognized with such prizes as Prairie Wood Design Awards for Residential and Interior design. The interdisciplinary disposition of Republic Architecture Inc. allows Melissa to continue her exposure to a range of design disciplines and the connection of architecture, planning, and unique user requirements.

It always seems impossible until it's done

Melissa would love to have a meal with Nelson Mandela and ask him how he endured so much oppression and still want to make the world a better place.

Endless Winter

Melissa's favourite book is Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, but she also lists the series A Song of Ice and Fire (where the Game of Thrones comes from) as her favourite series.


Melissa has travelled to Australia, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Germany, Prague, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana, and Ghana; and has lived in England, Vancouver, Berlin, a small island in western Kenya, and Winnipeg (of course).
